“We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty.” - Dr. Maya Angelou
Hey, how are you doing?
Winter will soon be behind us. The days are getting longer, and the temperature is slowly starting to warm up. We love to see it!
How have you been feeling? Is there anything that you are looking forward to this spring?
If you’ve been struggling to get through the darkness and cold of winter, especially during a whole pandemic, I hope that you can find comfort in the fact that relief is coming soon.
If you’ve been stuck on the realization that we are about a full year into all of this, I hope that you can find pride in reflecting on your resiliency and ability to survive through these times.
What are some new things that you tried? What ways have you been coping with what may have been coming up for you? Have you had any revelations, or breakthroughs?
We’re almost there!
I’ll be checking in with you about spring very, very soon!
In the meantime…
Have you tried any of these apps yet? [All are available for both IOS and Android]
I Am
I Am is an affirmation app that you can customize in numerous ways; you can choose specific times, and how often per day that you will receive an affirmation. You can select what kinds of affirmation that you are interested in, (e.g., self-care, self-esteem, etc.) You can try it out with their free 3-day trial!
Shine
Shine has grown from sending daily affirmation texts to becoming a full-blown Self-Care app. You can use it for guided meditations, reflection prompts, and to create a daily/weekly self-care routine. They also have a community for you to connect with others focused on their self-care journey as well! You can try it out with their free 7-day trial!
Mood Notes
Mood Notes is an interactive journal that allows you to document your mood at the time of your entry (you can do so manually, or do a face scan). You can then write a note about what is happening. There are additional prompts that it may ask you to reflect on. What is nice about this app is the integration of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Depending on what your mood is like, it will ask if common cognitive distortions (if you’re unfamiliar with that term, then we need to talk!!) may be currently present, and invites you to work through them. I feel like this app is great for use in between therapy sessions. You can try it out with their free 7-day trial!
As always, be well!
