Frequently Asked Questions

Is Therapy right for me?

Therapy is for everyone! Whether your experience will be short-term, on a weekly basis for years, or somewhere in between,  everyone has something to benefit from having scheduled, undivided time to focus on YOU.

How long does it take before i see any progress?

Research shows that it takes at least 12 weeks (3 months) of consecutive weekly appointments, including active participation, to see change.

What is out-of-network coverage?

Out-of-Network benefits offer coverage for providers that are not in-network with the insurance plan. Basically, this allows you to choose to work with a medical provider that is not on the list of providers offered by your insurance company. Some insurance companies will partially reimburse you for the session costs after you have paid the invoice. They require you to submit a Superbill, which is provided by the medical provider, in order to be reimbursed. This may be by faxing or mailing it to your insurance company, or submitting via an online portal that they provide.

What will therapy be like?

Therapy will differ due to individuals' unique personalities and presenting problems; however, therapy should not feel like you are mindlessly chatting with a friend or like you are venting nonstop for the entire session. You will learn new perspectives and new techniques for managing problems. You will receive feedback from the therapist. You are expected to reflect upon and apply things discussed during session in between sessions. Sometimes, sessions can be uncomfortable. It is, overall, rewarding!

What does 'eclectic approach' mean?

The definition of eclectic is: "deriving ideas, style, or taste, from a broad and diverse range of sources". My main approach to counseling is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but I have been trained in many different effective approaches (e.g., Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing,  etc.) I find the most effective treatment plans are those that have a CBT foundation, but based on the individual's needs and personality, has techniques from other approaches added in. Learn more here.

WhY Does Therapy Cost So much?

Pricing for services is based on the amount of costs it takes to maintain a business (e.g., office rent, advertising, licensing fees, etc.)
