Hi! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself to anyone new here.
My name is Jessica Herd. I am a licensed mental health counselor in the state of New York. My private practice is based in Brooklyn, New York, but I have been providing telehealth psychotherapy to all of New York State since 2020.
My blog is a place where I get to share my thoughts on various mental health-related topics.
In my private practice, I work with adults that struggle with symptoms of anxiety and depression; I assist people with navigating periods of high stress and challenging life transitions. I help individuals to learn more about mental health, how to manage their symptoms, and how to take control of their lives while alleviating or managing certain mental health concerns.
My top priority in each session is to help people to feel seen and heard. I am solution-focused, and offer different perspectives to situations, methods to cope, and strategies to try between sessions. I also help people make connections between how their thoughts affect their moods and behaviors; together, we make changes to thoughts and behaviors so that they feel better and see improvement in their lives.
I hope you will continue to read along each month as I share my thoughts and/or tips about topics I have on my mind.
2022 has been another year for the books, so far. It seems as if all we ever hear these days is bad news. And yet, we’ve all been expected to respond with, “it’s business as usual”.
Maybe you’ve been thriving and crossing off tasks from your To Do List all year. Or, maybe you have been struggling to make sense of what is happening in the world, and coping has been a constant challenge. Wherever you are, I hope you will take a few minutes to reflect on your mental health.
How is my mental health today?
